I took this portrait of my granddaughter when she was 12. I have photographed my grandkids from near birth every year except 2020. They understand “my style” but their creativity can be a gift. My captures are the results of an alchemy between their personality and mine. Being involved this way, capturing what they want to show me, goes beyond what I might have understood without my camera creating this space for seeing.
