“Merline’s Buggy” – For years I’d seen this woman push a “borrowed” shopping cart filled with water bottles up and down a highway near my home. I always wondered about her – who is she and what’s her story. Finally on a hot summer day and with camera in hand I stopped and asked if I could photograph her. She readily agreed and began to search her purse for a tube of violet colored lipstick. This woman had pride. She talked about water and told me her name was Merline and she was once a nurse.
