Walk, learn, shoot!

Downtown Dallas is bursting with lines, shapes, shadows and structures that are begging to be photographed in an interesting way. From the towering skyscrapers to the lush community parks, the beauty of architecture surrounds you when discovering Dallas’ hub by foot.

On this photo walk, we’ll meet in the Dallas Arts District in downtown Dallas where we’ll photograph the unique exteriors of Dallas’ museums and theatres, such as the Winspear Opera House, the Dallas Museum of Art, and I.M. Pei’s Meyerson Symphony Center. Our instructor will be there to answer questions, offer suggestions and give some feedback on your photos.

A few days before the photo walk we’ll meet online for a brief Zoom session to go over logistics. Your instructor will give you some ideas of what to expect and photography tips to get you ready.

YOU MUST WEAR A MASK DURING THE PHOTO SHOOT AND REMAIN AS SOCIALLY DISTANT AS POSSIBLE FROM YOUR PEERS AND THE INSTRUCTOR. There are no exceptions. If you don’t plan to wear a mask, then please don’t register for this class.

  • A DSLR, mirrorless, compact camera or smartphone. Any camera will do!
  • A mask! See above. The instructor will not assist a student who is not wearing a mask covering both their nose and mouth.
  • Basic knowledge of your camera. If you use a DSLR or mirrorless, our Beginner Digital Photography series (or similar) is a recommended prerequisite.
  • A charged battery and room on your memory card.
  • The right shoes and clothes for the weather. An umbrella if needed.

  • Cost per person is $35.
  • Registration is free for the first 5 DCP members to sign up with the discount code found in your membership account.
  • Several days before the photo walk we’ll meet ONLINE via Zoom from 6:00pm-7:00pm CDT.
  • For the photo walk, you’ll meet up with the instructor at a specified location in the Dallas Arts District. Details will be shared during the first online session. We’ll spend two hours walking, talking and shooting photos in the park.
  • Advance registration and payment is required.
  • Maximum number of students is 20.
