Portfolio reviews are Friday, February 28 at DCP between 9am-12pm. Please email DCP with a link to your portfolio and a time slot preference at time of registration. See below for more information.

Alan Ross is a renowned photographer whose unique vision combines traditional photographic methods with today’s technology. He worked side-by-side with Ansel Adams as his photographic assistant, and was personally selected by Ansel to print his Yosemite Special Edition negatives. As a photographic educator, Ross specializes in helping photographers at any level to realize and express their photographic vision.

On Friday, February 28, Alan will offer several professional one-on-one portfolio reviews for photographers who are seriously invested in a project (time slots listed below). Each artist will have 20 minutes of private review time to present a digital or print portfolio.

Each 20 minute session is $90 and will take place at the Dallas Center for Photography. Are you a student with a valid university ID? Email us to receive a discount off of the registration cost. You must register in advance, as these sessions are limited. There are only 7 slots available, and we expect them to fill up very quickly.  However, we will retain a wait list in the case of cancellation. Once you have purchased your review, please email DCP to pick a time slot

The time slots listed below will be scheduled on a first registered, first choice basis:

9:00 / 9:25 / 9:50 / 10:15 / 10:40 / 11:05 / 11:30

All participants must submit a link to their personal website/portfolio at the time of registration on the checkout page. Please provide a name for the project you wish to have reviewed. Your registration is not complete until your portfolio has been reviewed.

Each review session will begin and end promptly on time. You’re encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes early to be ready to go. If you do not arrive on time, your session will be forfeited.

Alan Ross

Alan Ross has earned an international reputation as a specialist in the art of black-and-white photography – as an artist, educator and master printer. He was Ansel Adams’ Photographic Assistant in Carmel from 1974 to 1979, and integrally involved with Adams’ books, teaching in Yosemite, and production of fine prints. Ross is the exclusive printer of Ansel Adams’ Yosemite Special Edition Prints, an assignment Adams personally selected him for in 1975. He makes each print by hand from Adams’ original negatives using traditional darkroom techniques. 

As a photographic educator, Ross specializes in helping photographers at any level to realize and express their photographic vision. He has led workshops in Yosemite & across the United States, Ireland, Italy, Australia and China.
